PGA Tour Recap

This week the PGA Tour visited Eagle Point Golf Club for the Wells Fargo Championship. With a long birdie putt on 18, Brian Harman won his second PGA Tour event of his career. Although Harman isn’t a household name, this is his fourth top 10 finish this year and he has already won over 2.5 million in prize money. His solid play down the stretch on Sunday allowed him to claw his way into a position to win it on 18. Dustin Johnston returned this week with a T2 finish after suffering an injury prior to the Masters. Johnston’s game looks to be in fine form with no lingering symptoms. Once again Jon Rahm was in position to strike on Sunday and finished solo 4th after a bogey on 15 took him out of contention for the week. Canadian Nick Taylor strung together four consistent rounds to finish T8, his second top ten finish of the year. Other Canadians making the cut included Mackenzie Hughes T31 and Brad Fritsch T71.

Next Week

The PGA Tour heads to Ponte Vedra Beach for the Players Championship hosted at TPC Sawgrass. This Pete Dye gem has been host to many great finishes over the years with rollercoaster finishes for many players in contention. Expect the field to go low again this year with the top 5 players in the world already committed to this event. Did you know that Alice Dye, Pete’s wife, came up with the idea for the famed island green that is arguably the most recognizable hole in golf?

LPGA Tour Recap

This week the LPGA went south to Mexico for a visit to Club de Golf México for the Citibanamex Lorena Ochoa Match Play Presented by Aeromexico and Delta. Many of the tour players look forward to this week as it offers the rarely used match play format in a stiff field of competition. Best part of this event? You get paid no matter what stage you get knocked out. Canadian Brooke Henderson survived the first round with a playoff victory before losing in the third round to Shanshan Feng. Sei Young Kim is your 2017 tournament champion after defeating Ariya Jutanugarn by winning the first three holes of their match and never letting go of the lead. Congrats to Michelle Wie on beating seed and winning third place.

Next Week

The LPGA is off this week and will return the following week in Williamsburg, Virginia, for the Kingsmill Championship Presented by JTBC. Ariya Jutanugarn was hot at this time last year as this was her first win in back to back podium finishes. After this week’s second place finish it isn’t out of the question that she could repeat that magic again this year.

Play of the Weekend

This week it goes to Brian Harman for his play on the 18th hole to claim his 2nd PGA Tour victory of his career. Harman stuffed his approach on 17 to collect a birdie but left himself a lengthy birdie putt on 18 claim win the Wells Fargo in 72 holes. Check out the video below for the full final round highlights.
